I always come back to the US from Italy filled with culinary inspiration. There’s just one problem: I have to search high and low for high quality, authentic Italian ingredients. After all, using American substitutes can make an Italian dish taste completely different than its Italian counterpart.
So if like me, after having a taste of the bel paese, Olive Garden is sacreligious, you want to make your carbonara the traditional Roman way with guanciale instead of bacon, and parmesan and Parmigiano-Reggiano are not even the same cheese….then this page is dedicated to you.
Unless you live somewhere with a little Italy like San Francisco or New York , the only way to get authentic Italian food is to make it from scratch at home, which is an absolute pleasure if you’re a true foodie at heart.
This page will be constantly updated as I discover new authentic Italian products in the US (and write about them on the blog). If you know of any high quality, authentic Italian ingredients I should add to this page, please contact me!
