To the women who uplift one another #DolceVitaBloggers

It’s that time again when Kristie from, Jasmine from and I link up with other content creators who love Italy! Our topic for March is “inspirational women.” If it’s your first time, here’s all about #DolceVitaBloggers. If you have a post of your own to add to the link up, look for the link at the bottom of this post! 😉

I thought long and hard about who to honor for International Women’s Day, but I couldn’t choose just one woman when there are so many of you who inspire me – daily.

It got me thinking: what does it mean to be inspirational?

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

-James Keller

This quote sums up “inspirational” for me: a woman who shines her light and speaks her truth, overcomes obstacles with enthusiasm, gratitude and grace, making the world a better place.

And so, I decided to write a poem (a first for me!) because I felt it was the best way to embody the spirit of all the women I admire.

She is vulnerable

enough to taste

all the flavors of life:

dolce, amaro, acido

because she knows

they do not last

and she can choose

which flavor to savor.

She has

a recipe

for life.

But sometimes

she can’t control

how things mix.

she laughs, dances

and makes the best

of circumstances.

She eats her mistakes

and then,

forgives herself

she has learned.

She knows

each woman

has her own

secret recipe.

But she knows

when they all join

at the table

it’s a feast.

Dedicated to all the women who uplift one another. It’s an honor to have you at the table.

Kelly!!!!!! I LOVE YOUR POEM! And I love the message behind this and the quote you include. We need to uplift each other. I hope you will keep doing more poetry, it’s not my strongpoint but I really adore it. Wouldn’t it be fun to publish something with a collection of our creative writing, poetry, etc?!!

A first as in you’ve never posted poetry that you’ve written or this is your first poem ever? If you haven’t written poetry before, wow, really great. I love it!

Wow Kelly! Snap, we use the same proverb! Great minds think alike hahaha… but honestly, I love that proverb for I have it as my instagram bio & screensaver to remind myself to always light / build someone up. It takes nothing to be a nice person. Plus it feels good to be a good person. It’s positive and enlightening. Your poem is beyond beautiful, seriously you have incredible talent. I read it like 5 times in a row. Strong and sensitive message. Thankfully, all of us in this wonderful group help & inspire each other. It is the start… Read more »
