How to Find Napa Valley Wine Tasting Deals

I had a bit of sticker shock wine tasting in Napa Valley. Tastings generally start at $25 bucks a pop for a flight of 3 wines (we are in a world renown wine region, after all). However, just a few hours away in the up and coming wine region of Lodi, California, an entire tasting with an unlimited selection of wines cost a mere $5 (which also went towards the purchase of a bottle). I decided to look into how I can find better deals next time I go wine tasting in Napa. (Gotta still have fun while paying those student loans in full).

an objective list of Napa Valley wine tasting deals:

Priority wine pass

Priority Wine Pass has deals on over 400 wineries from Northern to Southern California, Washington, and Oregon (full list of participating wineries here). There are three tiers of passes:

  • Year $59.99
  • 30 Day $49.99
  • 3 Day $39.99

Year passes are activated up on purchase, whereas 30 & 3 day passes are activated from your desired start date (must know before purchase). There is even a complimentary Napa concierge for year and 30 day pass holders to help you create a customized itinerary.

There are deals for the Napa Wine Train, complimentary tastings, 2 for 1 tastings, or discounts. The specific deals available for each winery are listed, so you can decide if the pass will be worth it if there are at least 2-3 wineries you would like to visit.

share a wine flight

If your aim is to taste a variety of wines without having to waste a drop or get too wasted, sharing a flight the way you would share a meal is the way to go. It turns out that sharing a wine flight is perfectly acceptable wine tasting etiquette in Napa too!

purchase a bottle of wine

Some wineries will put your wine tasting fee towards any wine you purchase. You might end up spending more, but at least your tasting counts towards something and you get to bring home a drinkable souvenir.

winery finder app

The Winery Finder App costs $9.99 to unlock $250 in wine tasting deals to 120+ wineries. The specific wineries where deals are available are not listed until you pay the fee. It also has suggestions for things to do as well as winery, dining, spa, and hotel information.

join a wine club

Many wine clubs offer complimentary tastings and tours. If there is a winery that you particularly love, joining their wine club might be worth it.

visa signature card

The Visa Signature Card allows you to save on wine tastings and wine purchases at select Sonoma wineries (though it is not specified how much or which wineries).

Groupon is always a reliable source of discounts on travel experiences and there are many tastings & tours available in the Napa Valley.

Wine country hotels are a great source of information. They usually have local brochures and receptionists can usually give wine tasting advice and any current deals. There is also the Napa Valley Welcome Center online or in person.

You can save 50% on Priority Wine Pass with my affiliate code ATHEART until 12/06/19 or check back next year for another Black Friday Deal. I think it would make a perfect Christmas gift for yourself or a loved one!
